KOREAN SKINCARE · INGREDIENT TO IDEA

Korean skincare's lesson

isn't skin.

korean skincare's biggest lesson

isn't about skin. it's about turning

an ingredient into an idea people remember.

three brands do this better than anyone. they take one ingredient and pull a whole campaign out of it: the name, the packaging, the film, the set.

here is how each one does it, and the three prompts you can paste into claude to turn your own ingredient list into creative direction. the full breakdown is yours to download.

01 · Beauty of Joseon

MINE

the story.

beauty of joseon build everything on rice and ginseng, then tie those ingredients to traditional korean beauty rituals. even the name, dynasty cream, carries that history. the story is the brand.

so look into the story behind your own hero ingredient. where does it sit in history, ritual or culture? that one answer can shape your product names, your packaging and your whole campaign.

Skip this and

the ingredient is just a claim on the back of the box. mine its story and it becomes the whole brand.

the claude prompt
paste this into claude to mine the story:
You are a beauty brand creative director. My hero ingredient is {ingredient}, in a {product type} for {who it's for}. Dig into its history, cultural meaning and traditional rituals. Then give me: three origin-story angles I could build a brand around, five product or range names that carry that heritage, and one campaign line for each. Keep it specific and ownable, never generic.
What to give claude
  • your hero {ingredient}
  • the {product} and who it's for
  • your brand's values or positioning in a line
02 · FEMMUE

SHOW

the feel.

femmue's whole world is flowers. petals, oils, textures, and the way all of it feels on the skin. they do not tell you it is luxurious, they show you, in extreme close up.

so take your main ingredient and show what it feels like. the texture in macro, the way it moves, even the sound of it. make the viewer feel the ingredient before they read a single word.

Skip this and

you describe the texture in a caption nobody reads. show it in macro and the feeling lands instantly.

the claude prompt
paste this into claude to show the feel:
You are a beauty creative director. My ingredient is {ingredient} and it feels like {describe the texture or sensation}. Give me five ways to show that feeling in content without words: specific macro shots, movements, sounds and textures a viewer could almost feel. For each, give me the shot, the sensory detail, and why it lands.
What to give claude
  • your {ingredient} and how it actually feels
  • the {product} format (an oil, a balm, a cream)
  • where it will run (a reel, a pdp, an ad)
03 · SKIN1004

GO

to the source.

skin1004 centre everything on centella from madagascar. their films take you through sandstone landscapes and baobab trees, the actual place the ingredient grows. the origin becomes the art direction.

so look at where your ingredients come from. the landscape, the light and the colours of that place could shape your next shoot's location, palette and set.

Skip this and

you shoot on the same white sweep as everyone. root it in the ingredient's origin and the set tells the story.

the claude prompt
paste this into claude to find the art direction:
You are a beauty creative director. My ingredient is {ingredient}, sourced from {place}. Turn that origin into art direction. Give me three location or set concepts, a colour palette pulled from that landscape, the light and mood for each, and props that signal the place, all kept on brand for {product}. No cliches.
What to give claude
  • your {ingredient} and where it's sourced
  • the {product} and the brand feel
  • any places or landscapes already linked to it
