THE INGREDIENT-TO-IDEA BREAKDOWN How Korean skincare turns one ingredient into a whole campaign, and how to do it with yours. Niko x Studios ยท nikoxstudios.com ------------------------------------------------------------ THE IDEA ------------------------------------------------------------ Korean skincare's biggest lesson is not about skin. It is about turning an ingredient into an idea people actually remember. The best brands take one ingredient and pull a whole campaign out of it: the name, the packaging, the film, the set, the location. Before your next campaign, go back to your ingredient list and run your hero ingredient through three lenses. The direction is almost always already there. How to use the prompts below: these are prompts for CLAUDE (or your AI assistant), not image prompts. Paste one in, fill the braces {like this} with your product, and it will come back with creative direction you can actually brief from. ============================================================ 1. THE STORY โ€” mine the history Example: Beauty of Joseon ============================================================ Beauty of Joseon build everything on rice and ginseng, then tie those ingredients to traditional Korean beauty rituals. Even the name "Dynasty Cream" carries that heritage. The story is the brand. ASK: what is the history, ritual or culture behind my hero ingredient? PASTE INTO CLAUDE: "You are a beauty brand creative director. My hero ingredient is {ingredient}, in a {product type} for {who it's for}. Dig into its history, cultural meaning and traditional rituals. Then give me: three origin-story angles I could build a brand around, five product or range names that carry that heritage, and one campaign line for each. Keep it specific and ownable, never generic." GIVE CLAUDE: your hero {ingredient}; the {product} and who it's for; your brand's values or positioning in a line. ============================================================ 2. THE FEEL โ€” show the texture Example: FEMMUE ============================================================ FEMMUE's whole world is flowers: petals, oils, textures, and the way all of it feels on the skin. They do not tell you it is luxurious, they show you, in extreme close-up. ASK: what does my main ingredient look and feel like up close? PASTE INTO CLAUDE: "You are a beauty creative director. My ingredient is {ingredient} and it feels like {describe the texture or sensation}. Give me five ways to show that feeling in content without words: specific macro shots, movements, sounds and textures a viewer could almost feel. For each, give me the shot, the sensory detail, and why it lands." GIVE CLAUDE: your {ingredient} and how it actually feels; the {product} format (an oil, a balm, a cream); where it will run (a reel, a PDP, an ad). ============================================================ 3. THE ORIGIN โ€” go to the source Example: SKIN1004 ============================================================ SKIN1004 centre everything on Centella from Madagascar. Their films take you through sandstone landscapes and baobab trees, the actual place the ingredient grows. The origin becomes the art direction. ASK: where in the world does my ingredient come from? PASTE INTO CLAUDE: "You are a beauty creative director. My ingredient is {ingredient}, sourced from {place}. Turn that origin into art direction. Give me three location or set concepts, a colour palette pulled from that landscape, the light and mood for each, and props that signal the place, all kept on brand for {product}. No cliches." GIVE CLAUDE: your {ingredient} and where it's sourced; the {product} and the brand feel; any places or landscapes already linked to it. ============================================================ THE EXERCISE ============================================================ 1. List every ingredient in your product, not just the hero. 2. Run each one through the three prompts: story, feel, origin. 3. Most answers will be flat. One will not. That one is your campaign. ------------------------------------------------------------ The rule: you do not need a new idea, you need to look harder at the ingredient you already have. Story, feel, origin. Niko x Studios.
